With the intention of creating the perfect countryside escape, we started to work with what already was an impressive building and surroundings. We realized that two distinct halves were once owned by a brother and sister, a fact that gave name to the house. The left side of the house is called Ovelha (Portuguese for sheep), as it faces a hill where sheep graze; the right side is named Galo (Portuguese for rooster), because of the roosters that greet in the morning.
Inviting colors, soft textures and a pop of vibrancy through carefully selected design pieces from local and Berlin manufacturers, alongside artworks sourced from galleries and small producers in Porto define the ambient. Outside, we’ve built two new terraces for lounging and sunbathing, redesigned the entire garden and renovated the exterior. In the back, we’ve added three more terraces with lounging/reading area, a sustainable jacuzzi and a dedicated sunbathing spot, all connected through the garden. On the lower level, we’ve designed a vast yoga room and a sauna.
The passion project was completed with a comprehensive corporate identity, covering everything from logo design and website to social media, postcards, on-site wayfinding, and the thoughtful research and concept development of the house presentation with carefully curated partners.
